Pioneering scientific research in Bone Regeneration

The product platform comes from pioneering university research which showed reindeer (Rangifer tarandus), to have by far the most effective bone growth factors out of the many animals tested. Reindeer is an animal well known for its bone regeneration capacity given that both males and females reproduce approximately 30% of their body weight yearly in antler and other bone.

The isolation of the bone growth factors from the reindeer bone is the foundation for the development of our products. Our patented production process and cooperation with suppliers guarantees the deminerialized reindeer bone to retain a high and consistent level of bioactive bone growth factors. This background technology was developed by Bioactive Bone Substitutes’ strong science team with expertise in biochemistry, molecular biology, and bioprocessing.

Proven – Published Effectiveness

In a study using rabbit subjects, the reindeer bone morphogenic protein (BMP) was shown to have osteoinductive healing properties at much lower doses than human-based pharmaceutical growth compounds. The reindeer BMP was shown to be safe and reliable as published in Acta Orthopaedica in 2006. Bioactive Bone Substitutes Ltd has proven its preclinical efficiency in several animal models.
